As you can see, I don’t update this website very often at all. But people do end up popping by for some reason or other. So I figure I should update with a new post about things I wrote in 2023, in case you’re trying to figure out who I am and what I do. And in part – small part – I write analyses of politics etc. So here goes:
New Statesman
- Whoever wins, we lose
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg’s cage fight is a neo-feudal nightmare. - The world ended in 1973
In the West, five decades of economic stagnation have scrambled politics.
UnHerd
- This was not Brazil’s January 6
- Get ready for the return of Jair Bolsonaro: Brazil’s former president declared that his mission was not yet over
- Don’t blame Lula for playing both sides on Ukraine: The Brazilian leader is taking advantage of a great power rivalry
- Javier Milei is not a South American Trump: The winner of the Argentinian presidential primaries is an ultra-libertarian
- Javier Milei is not done yet: Having fallen short in round one of the Argentine election, the radical could yet win
- How extreme will Javier Milei be?: The election of the chainsaw-wielding libertarian is a shock to the establishment

Well, if the purpose of this exercise was to shame myself into writing more in 2024, job done. I did set up a Subst@ck today though so there’s that. More on that anon.
